Well this was definitely the most unique wedding I have ever shot. Welcome to the "Smeerie Wedding" at the historic Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver BC! The wedding opened up Elite Canadian Championship Wrestling Ballroom Brawl 8.
Before I get into my shtick, I'm going to rip off part of Scotty's Facebook post, because it sums everything up FAR better than I could: "Thank you to everyone that had a part in what turned out to be the perfect wedding for Christina and I. I think it's safe to say that the Smeerie Wedding was like no other wedding you've been to, and that was one of the most important aspects of it. I'm not one to conform, nor do I feel obligated to hold up outdated traditions that most people are ignorant to the origins of. We took some risks, did it our way, and knocked it out of the park."
First off was one of Scotty's BFFs, The Natural, "politely" asking ring announcer Scotty Sweatervest to exit the ring. (Yeah, The Natural is kind of a douche...)
Out comes the groom and his entourage!
Followed the the lovely bridge and her entourage.
You know things are going to get off to a rocky start when there's a thousand people screaming obscenities at the couple. All part of the charm of a wrestling wedding, right?
Straight into the vows!
Now here's where things take a turn for the worse. The monster sized Lak Siddartha had an objection to the wedding taking place. He also had an objection to the size of the groom's manhood.
Chaos ensued on the outside, but leave it to SHREDDZ to take to the air and clean house!
Things ended terribly for Scotty Mac after this, as Lak chokeslammed him through the wedding cake table. (The cake looked good and I was hoping to cheat on my diet and have a piece... Damnit Lak!)
What, you thought it was over?!
ECCW Champion Nicole Matthews had a wedding gift for the bride - a title shot!
Unfortunately, things didn't end so well for our lovely bride. But she did end up with a piece of wedding cake for her troubles, so there was that.
In all seriousness, I love it when "real life" gets mixed into the showbiz world of professional wrestling. Congrats on what clearly the perfect wedding for Scotty Mac and Christina Von Eerie!
