Nestled in the heart of Pemberton Valley, right underneath the mammoth Mt. Currie, and just twenty minutes north of Whistler, lies Big Sky Golf Club. Weddings at golf clubs are almost guaranteed to be beautiful and memorable, and the scenery at Big Sky is practically perfect. I had the opportunity to sit down and chat with Holly Nunn, who is the sales and events manager at Big Sky Golf Club.
Big Sky is DEFINITELY an appropriate name for this golf club.
One of the things that struck me immediately about Big Sky was the serenity of the entire area. I love scenic mountain vistas, and when you combine that with 37 acres of lush greenery, gardens, and wetlands, that’s pretty much the perfect scenario for me!
Something I loved right away was the Big Sky is very careful in balancing out the number of weddings they take on, with their actual golf games. This means that you don’t have to worry about them churning out wedding after wedding as if they were on a conveyer belt. You will get a more boutique experience, with everything being a lot more customizable for your special day.
When you first drive up the long road, you'll immediately notice the beautiful landscaping.
And up to the clubhouse!
The weather wasn’t completely co-operative while we were there (those morning alpine clouds can be stubborn) but what we saw was gorgeous. Big Sky wedding ceremonies take place out on the green, surrounded by water and backed by the mountains. Not going to lie, kind of wish I got married here back in the day…!
The reception area is super cool. You have the entire deck, and at 2500 square feet, it is VERY expansive! The back area gives you a fully functioning outdoor dance floor, complete with an area for a DJ and party lights. They even grow their own strawberries and grapes. How’s THAT for straight to table?
Check out the view from the deck:
Speaking of straight to table, Big Sky Golf sources their food and drink locally. And given the amount of farms in Pemberton Valley, why not. Local meat, local produce, local wine, and local beer! (I do have a thing for Whistler Beer……..)
And on the subject of beer and wine…. Big Sky is not subject to the same noise bylaws that the majority of other Pemberton wedding venues are subject to. So if your liquor license expires at 1 in the morning, then that’s when your party is going to keep on rolling until!
Now, one of the things that I, as a photographer, love is water.... Because we can do some killer reflections!
