I have to go on record as saying that I love Love LOVE when my couples decide they want to do a first look as part of their wedding day!
Let’s get the obvious out of the way first – it is not traditional at all. Then again, if you ARE a very traditional person, you probably haven’t read too deeply into my blog. ;) But now that we’ve acknowledged that….
The best thing, in my opinion, about a first look, is the emotion involved. The bride and groom get to see each other for the first time in a very private moment, and they get to spend it with each other, instead of in front of a mass of people. I love watching the anticipation on the bride’s face. I love watching the nervous energy of the groom – really, how many times in his life has he been THIS excited? And then the couple simple get to enjoy each other’s company for a few minutes, and forget about how hectic the day has been, and probably will be. A few moments to relax. The moments are raw. They are honest. There’s no pressure whatsoever.
And as a HUGE bonus, it makes the day run so much smoother because all the photos are done before the ceremony. One of the biggest gripes that a lot of people have about a wedding is the time in between the ceremony and the reception, and thinking about what they’re going to do. With a first look, that is not a problem at all – the couple can go straight from the ceremony into the reception, and commence (ok, continue) drinking, relaxing, and hanging out with their friends and family. The photos are already done, remember?!
There ya have it, a few reasons to consider a first look. Check out Krystal and Sean’s first look at the Crystal Ballroom!
