It’s a small world sometimes, don’t you think?
Not going to lie, I was super stoked when Chantelle booked a fitness session with me. She struck me as one of those types who it would be virtually impossible to take a bad picture of. (Guess what, I was right!) And I was even more stoked when she wanted my wife Mandy to do her makeup. After all, Mandy isn’t really into doing “natural” makeup, so I knew she was going to deliver something quite spectacular. So when we were all planning for Chantelle to arrive for makeup (this is where the small world part comes in), we discovered that she quite literally lives right across the street from us. Well isn’t THAT convenient!
The three of us headed out to Powerhouse FX in Aldergrove, and we shot with fellow teammate and masters bikini competitor Christie. I can honestly say that Chantelle is one of THE easiest shoots I’ve ever done. Super easy going girl, and down to shoot pretty much anything!
We started off with some headshots. Hey, when your hair and makeup is perfectly on fleek, they’re pretty much necessary, right?
Then off to the Smith Machine. I can’t really explain it, but athletes in general seem to photograph so well against a smith machine or squat rack! (Though of course, they’re PURE EVIL when you have to use them to make gains………..)
Next up, the tire! Tires seem so rare in gyms so I love that Powerhouse FX has one.
We were shooting pretty late into the evening, so when the gym emptied out quite a bit, we could go a little more risqué. (Hey, when you spend that much time in the aforementioned Smith Machine and squat rack making gains, you have to show off the results) And for the younger, male gym members that were there, you’re welcome for the extra motivation to push yourselves a little harder!
And how about a few post-contest questions?!
- What was your biggest struggle during prep?
Having unrealistic expectations
- Any killer food cravings during your prep?
Cheese and ice cream
- What was your big Saturday night post-show meal? Make us drool, damnit!
Pizza and wings
- Do you have plans to compete again? Same category? Different category?
No plans on competing again and never bikini... I'd do figure but not for a long time if ever
- In hindsight, if you could change one thing about your prep, what would it be?
Oh no low carb days, more weight loss and no fasted cardio...... So the impossible
- Did the whole contest experience teach you anything about yourself?
I can be quite the whiny bitch
(Ray's note: My wife said the exact same thing about me..........)
- Any words of wisdom for girls who are thinking about entering a bikini competition?
Don't have any expectations
