Railroad Park Resort & Ahwahnee Hotel (2/7)

Road Trip – Day 2

Today was the big day!!  Neither of us had ever been to Yosemite National Park, but it had been on our lists forever.

But first, now that it’s daylight, we were able to wander the grounds of Railroad Park Resort and grab some photos!  Mark hadn’t been since 1999 and it was my first time since 2008.  The fall colors looked f’n amazing!

Now for the drive that neither of us were looking forward to – more interstate 5.  :(  South through Sacramento, and then into Yosemite National Park from there.

Sweet Jesus, the drive through to Sacramento was every bit as boring as I had remembered.  But Sacramento did have one pleasant surprise waiting for us – In N Out Burger!!

And from there, OMFG the drive was dreadful!  But we made it into Yosemite around 4:00 or so, and checked into the famous Ahwahnee Hotel.  This was, believe it or not, my first time staying in a National Park Hotel.  And holy s#!t it was GORGEOUS.  Plus, we were greeted with delicious cookies, so that was a bonus.

We didn’t do any sightseeing this evening, because we had to prep for our big project in the morning.  As in, 1:00 in the morning.  So it was a quick soak in the pool, followed by dinner, and then in bed by 8:30!

Ok, 1:00am call time, and we’re ready to roll!

Again, I can’t share too many details of this project, BUT…. Here are some badass shots of the interior of the Ahwahnee Hotel.  Let me know in the comments below if it reminds you of anything!

We were wrapped up our shoot around 3:00am, and we were all pretty f’n excited with what we got.  Even more stoked to get the final product out into the world!

But first, a very well deserved sleep.
